Sam Stewart is a tasteful shredder who plays guitar in Lo Moon. They released their debut album earlier this year and it’s a ripper! Sebastien Grainger is the voice and skins man of Death From Above. He has one of the great rock voices and has been one of my favourite singers for years. The latest Death From Above album was produced by Eric Valentine ( Queens Of The Stone Age, Slash ) and sounds incredible! Alain Johannes is one of the great musicians of our time. Alan Palomo is the man behind Neon Indian. He is a multi-talented artist who pioneered the chill-wave movement when he released his debut album in 2009. However, his skills far surpass such an ephemeral label and he has been experimental and progressive in his approach to both music and cinematography since arriving on the scene. We sat down to discuss the democratisation of artistic exposure, trying to break up with yourself, cooking, and mourning the corrosion of objective reality.

Nick Littlemore is one half of both Empire Of The Sun and Pnau amongst many other things. He is an artist I have admired for a long time, someone who knows how to create sonic whimsy and bring joy through his music. Jamie Timony is a star, he’s got all the right stuff. His project 'MOSSY' is an eccentric mix of 90’s trip-hop, classic crooner styles and progressive pop. He is also lead singer of Sydney punk outfit 'These New South Whales' who have a mockumentary series under the same name based on the Australian music scene. We got together to talk about who he really is, whether it’s the spineless Jamie from These New South Whales or the character who sings the songs in MOSSY, what it is to be an artist and how a good song can make you want to kick over a wheelie bin.

Hamilton Leithauser is the voice of The Walkmen. With that band being on an indefinite Hiatus after releasing their last album ‘Heaven’ in 2012, Hamilton has begun a solo career beginning with his album Black Hours in 2014. He recently collaborated with Rostam from Vampire Weekend on their record together ‘I Had A Dream That You Were Mine’ which has received a lot of praise critically. We sat down to discuss rock n roll, having music drive you mad, being a solo artist versus being in a band and trying to find new ways to become inspired.

Mayer Hawthorne is the funk/soul alias of Drew Cohen. He has been making records under that moniker since 2009 when he released his debut album ‘A Strange Arrangement’ to critical acclaim. He recently started a project with Jake One called Tuxedo which is a modern take on West coast G-Funk. We sat down to discuss the dark side of the music industry, the fine line between plagiarism and inspiration and the elusive 13th note.

Francois Tetaz is an Australian music producer best known for his Grammy award winning collaboration with Gotye, ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ featuring Kimbra. I visited him at one of the studios he works from in LA ( where he now resides with his family ) to discuss what it is to be a producer and how he came up with the mantra, ‘I may be slow, but at least I’m expensive’.

Jordan Blilie was one of two vocalists in The Blood Brothers, one of my favourite bands of all time. His current band Head Wound City is brilliant and plays music of a similar style, very intense and guitar driven, it is what wikipedia describes as a ‘noisegrind supergroup’. We talked rock n roll diplomacy, playing in a band with your friends from high school, politics, lyric writing, and what the dream really is.

Kimbra is a force, a one of a kind artist that can’t be boxed in or slowed down. She has put out 2 critically acclaimed albums which are both considerably different from one another, has been handed a Grammy by Prince, hangs out making tunes with David Byrne, you name it and she has probably done it. We sat down to talk about what it means to be an ever evolving artist, how to find joy in this industry and how to ’trust the process’.
