When God commands do you submit and honor God?  Or do you honor the commands of men?  Pastor Edwin breaks down the issue of Saul and the Amalek people.  Samuel when confronting Saul he asks "What is this sound of horses, goat and sheep I hear?"  Saul is corrected by Samuel, because he did not obey the Lord.  Saul begins to arguing with Samuel.  God rips the kingdom from Saul.  God begins to move and has Samuel to seek out the new king who will be one "after God's own heart".  David is introduced.  A man after God's own heart.  David soon finds himself on the battle field.  Grab your bible and lets study together.  

Is Faith a feeling?  Is it goose bumps, or just words that roll off the tongue?  According to Hebrews it's more than that.  In the book of James, the epistle writer tell us to "Show us your faith, and I will show you my faith by works!"  So we ask, "WHAT YOU DOING?"  We know that's not grammatically correct.  However it gets the point across.  Asking if you believe, where are your works?  Yes Paul teaches we are justified by faith, and we at the River teach in faith alone, but faith is NEVER alone!  Grab your bible and lets study in Faith, about Faith!!!

In this study of 1 Samuel we hear the retirement sermon of Samuel.  His motto has been "Here I am".  Being available and willing to serve God should be our motto like Samuel's!  He asks if he's been shady to the people of Israel, then afterwards preaches a convicting sermon to stir the hearts of the people to repentance.  A good minister will always call the people to repent and serve the one true God!  Grab your bible and lets study together "At The River!"

We continue our study of Hebrews, in this episode of At The River we unpack chapter 10.  "25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near..." unless a pandemic occurs , unless it rains, unless it's sunny outside.  No, grab your bible and lets study together!  "Many men will avoid going to the doctor because they don't want to hear their aliments, that is likely why they don't attend church to hear what God says about them!" ... "If you are far from the people of God you are far from God." If you can't say "amen, say ouch!"

Grab your bible, and lets read where the Israel nation sang "Long live the king!"  After betraying the God of Israel!  Finding him hidden among the baggage, Saul is anointed as king.  When a people are evil, God will give them evil rulers, if they are especially evil God will give them ringmasters instead of pastors!  Lets do bible study together, and learn about free moral agency, and the sovereignty of God.  

In this section of Hebrews we read that the Holy Spirit tells us, "let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water."  We un-pack this verse together.  As we draw near with assurance of faith, our evil conscience is sprinkled clean with water.  To understand this, we see that we are guilty before God, and able to forgive others who sin against us, and even forgive ourselves.  Only the blood of Jesus can satisfy the cost of sin to God, and enable us to forgive others and ourselves!  Grab your bible and lets study together "At The River!" www.RiverSideFWB.com

In this study of 1 Samuel we look at Saul who "became another man" however he wasn't regenerated or "born again" like Jesus commands us too be!  This text shows us that God changed his heart of equip the "donkey herdsman" to be a "king" and a "statesman".  This text doesn't talk about the salvation of Saul.  So what we have is a different man, not a "new man".  The last thing we need is to be different, but New!  Grab your bible and lets study together!

In the book of Hebrews the author takes the reader down the halls of Grace, along the way we glance at the law, we see how it's faulty and can not save us.  This Hebrews chapter highlights the High Priestly work of Jesus, how our priest now sits beside our God.  Ministering for us, daily, and his enemies are made a footstool for his feet.  Grab your bible and lets study together!

In our series of 1 Samuel, we begin to meet the king Israel has been harping on.  They have rejected God as king, even using excuses as Samuel's age and the corruption of his own sons as reason.  We always try to excuse our sins, and blame them on someone else.  In this part of scripture we examine the now shy king known as Saul.  Grab your bible and lets examine and unpack these scripture together!

In this epic podcast episode, we see a now elderly Samuel trying to retire.  Passing the ministry on to his sons Joel and Abijah.  However the people are stirred.  They blame their rebellion on Samuel's age, and the corruption of Samuel's kids.  Blaming and passing the buck on someone else is our human nature.  Blaming the woman that God gave him, Adam pointed to Eve.  Eve blamed the snake.  Passing the fault to others.  This chapter begins with the people of Israel blaming someone else for their faithlessness.  Asking for a king, Samuel is grieved.  However God will receive Glory no matter what the circumstance!  Grab your bible and lets study about this Glorious King, and how he receives the Glory in this situation!!

In our summer in Psalms, we examine the Psalm pinned by David, as he cries out to God in repentance.  Psalm 51 written after David was confronted by the prophet of God in the middle of David's great sin.  David responds by crying for a clean heart, and having his transgressions blotted out by God.  Is this the attitude we should mirror when we are confronted with sin?  Are we to coddle our sins and manage them instead of renouncing them and even killing them?  Grab your bible and join us as we study together at the River!!!
