We are beginning a new sermon series today that is going to take us through the season of lent all the way up to Easter and really excited about it. I usually go into these sermon series with a lot of excitement, but I am just upfront. This one is a little bit different. I'm excited, but it's a somber excitement. It's a very sober excitement. We have a very serious topic that for the next six weeks we're going to be looking at and what we're going to be focusing on throughout this series is the work of Satan and demons and how that plays a part in our lives and it's not a topic that we enter into lightly nor should we. A scripture frequently pulls back the curtain on physical reality and shows us that there is a spiritual realm and th

Holy father, you are a good God and you want the best for us so we glorify you, great God and we thank you for your law. We do confess that often as we look at your commandments, it does seem burdensome. It seems difficult. It seems as if life would be simpler without them. I pray today, Lord, forgive us of breaking your commandments. We thank you for the cross of Christ and the work of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ who fulfilled all of the law and extends to us a righteousness, forgiveness, grace and mercy and also Lord we thank you for sending us the Holy Spirit who empowers us to live a life in line with your will, to cry out and pray. You are above and you are here with us today, closer than our very own hearts. Lord, we thank you that you have loved us so much. Your love is greater than the distance between the earth and the highest of the heavens. We thank you Lord that you proved your love to us through your sacrifice of Jesus Christ, that Christ you poured out your blood for us to redeem us, to make us twice yours. We are yours in creation, and yours as children of God, the Father. Holy Spirit, come and show us where in our hearts we are esteeming ourselves as great and esteeming you as lesser than you are.

Heavenly Father, on communion Sunday today, we just want to take a moment to confess that we are sinners, that we are selfish, that all too often our own self-interests dominate our thoughts, dominate our imaginations, and take up our energy. Lord, I pray today that you focus our gaze from ourselves and refocus it on you. We are not glorious. We are not infinite. You are glorious, and you are infinite, and you are love. We thank you, Lord, that you showed us with true love is, that you, the Father, gave your Son, your beloved, the one in whom you delight, and, Jesus, that you showed us what love is, that you gave yourself for us on the cross, that you through the gospel defined for us that true love is action, that true love is sacrifice of self for the benefit of others and that s

We understand that we were children of wrath. We understand that we are under your judgment. and still Lord, you came and you poured out your love on us by giving your son. To give your love, to give your forgiveness, to give your grace, you had to first give your son. And you have so loved the world, you have so loved us that you gave your son. Heavenly father, we thank you that you are a God who came down. You did not leave us in our sin, you did not leave us in our fall, you didn't leave us in our darkness, but you sent your son, Jesus Christ who came through the incarnation. Jesus, fully God, fully man. You came and the eternal broke into the temporal, the infinite broke into the finite and Lord you came to save us because there's nothing that we can do to save ourself and we thank you that salvation, true salvation monergistic. You're the one who starts our salvation, you're the one who sustains our salvation, you're the one who ultimately secures our salvation. We thank you that you do that by the power of the Holy Spirit. Holy God, heavenly Father, we thank you that you are a noble God, a personal God in the sense that you want our person to relate to your person, to know who you are and you want us to know whose we are, that we are yours and we're bought with the blood of Jesus Christ. Lord, we confess even now that often we live as if we are our own. We live as if we are at the center of the universe. It's so tempting to feel like we are the center of our lives and we are not. Remind us that Lord you are the center. You are the point. You are the essence and the total of reality. And we thank you for sending your son, Jesus Christ to show us that, to show us what it means to live in obedience to you, to show us what it means to live a life of love toward you, love towards people. Instead Lord, that you came and you exposed our darkness through the truth of your son, Jesus Christ. And we thank you Jesus that you didn't just expose our darkness with your light, but you also showed us your love, of how much you love us, that you are willing to die on the cross bearing the penalty for our darkness. Welcome to Mosaic Boston, Brookline. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Tyler. I'm the teen director here and I am really excited to be worshiping with you this morning. And I say that partly because I was real nervous coming up to this. I always get nervous before I preach, but as amazing as our worship team is, even they could not have planned how perfectly those songs line up with what we are talking about today. Each and every verse in those songs, I was like, "Oh, I'm talking about that. Oh, I'm talking about that." And so it is clearly moving of the Holy Spirit and I'm encouraged by that and I hope you're encouraged by that too. But before we begin, will you pray with me over the preaching of God's word? Heavenly father, Lord, we come

Heavenly father, we thank you that you are God of love, and you have proven your love to us by giving the greatest gift that anyone has ever given to anyone else, it's your son, Jesus Christ. God the son, we thank you so much for the incarnation. That's what we're celebrating today, that you took on flesh, that you veiled yourself in flesh in order to tear down the veil that stood between us and you, you a holy God, and us an unholy people, and Jesus, you came to reconcile that breach, and thank you for the life that you lived, a perfect life. You lived perfectly, you died shamefully, and you rose victoriously, and now you reign supremely. We thank you Jesus, that even now you're at the right hand of God, interceding for each one of us and Lord, we need that intercession, we need

Jesus Our Prophet

If you'd like to check out more resources, learn about Mosaic Boston and our neighborhood churches, or donate to this ministry, please visit mosaicboston.com I'm going to read from Acts 3:17-26. This is not the most Christmas-y passage, but it comes in the time of Pentecost after Jesus has died and resurrected and ascended into heaven. The spirit descends upon the apostles and they begin teaching about God. Where do they go first? They go to the Jews, who missed that Jesus Christ was the Messiah, the anointed one. The apostles heal a man who's been lame his whole life and he begins leaping and walking and it's drawing attention to the crowd, so this is the sermon that Peter delivers to that crowd. Acts 3:17-26, "And now brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers, but what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets that his Christ would suffer, he thus fulfilled. Repent, therefore, and turn back that your si

Jesus Our Messiah
08/12/2019 Duración: 33minSummary: Why do we long for a hero? Why do our heroes always let us down? This Sunday, we will begin a new Advent series, and look at how all these longings point to Jesus. He is the quintessential hero, the chosen one, the Messiah. Who He is makes Him the only hero who can truly save us, and what’s He’s done proves He’s the only hero who will never let us down. Audio Transcript: You're listening to audio for Mosaic Boston Church. If you'd like to check out more resources, learn about Mosaic Boston and our neighborhood churches, or donate to this ministry, please visit mosaicboston.com. We are starting a new sermon series today. I'm excited. Advent is here. Christmas is coming. We've got our first snow day in the books, and I love December in Boston. It is that like one magical time of year where everything slows down, people chill out a little bit. You might even have someone smile and say hi to you on the T as they shove you out of their way. I don't know. I'm not a particularly sentimental guy, but I

Leaving A Legacy
01/12/2019 Duración: 47minSummary: When's the last time you've seriously thought about your funeral? How do you want to be remembered by those you leave behind? If you were to write a eulogy for your own funeral, would what you say? What would you like to be included in your obituary? What would you choose for your epitaph? These are seemingly morbid questions, especially in a culture desperately bent on sheltering itself from the realities of death. However, every sober-minded person needs to meditate on the inevitability of death. The inevitability of death should guide our life. We will die. We will be remembered. Everyone leaves a legacy. What kind of legacy are you working to leave? Does your desired legacy shape your current life? Audio Transcript: You're listening to audio from Mosaic Boston Church. We're so glad you're here. By the way, congratulations for making it out. Whenever it rains, I already know the Navy SEALS are going to show up. It's like that meme, I don't know if you saw this meme going around, where the lady is screaming and then there's the white cat. And the screaming lady goes, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!" And then the cat says, "Well, you can't even show up to church when it rains." And the cat is spot on. So, congratulations. The Lord sees your sacrifice. We'd love to connect with you if you're new, we do that through the Connection Crowd, the worship guide, if you fill it out legibly, you can either toss it in the offering basket after or redeem it at the Welcome Center for a gift, or you can download the app, the Mosaic Boston app in the App Store or Google Play. Facing Opposition with Grace
17/11/2019 Duración: 45minSummary: Satan hates God. However, he can't hurt God directly. So he does everything he can to hurt God indirectly, and he does so by attacking God's children. Holy Scripture promises us that "all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted" (2 Timothy 3:12). Jesus promised his followers that they will be hated just for being Christians (John 15:18-20). Christian, if you follow Jesus faithfully, you will have enemies. These too are God's promises. Jesus calls us to withstand hate with love, but how do we withstand opposition like lions, while loving those who oppose us, like lambs? Audio Transcript: You're listening to audio from Mosaic Boston church. You'd like to check out more resources, learn about Mosaic Boston and our neighborhood churches or donate to this ministry, please visit mosaicboston.com And God, we thank you for the blessing and privilege it is to gather safely, in peace, to worship your Holy name, to meditate upon your Holy scriptures as your church, as your people.

The Keys to Being a Good Friend
10/11/2019 Duración: 56minSummary: Proverbs 13:20 says, "Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm." Wise friends set us on a trajectory of wise living. Foolish friends predict a foolish future. Who are your friends? Are they wise? Are you a good friend? Do you treasure friendship? This week we look to the greatest friend ever, Jesus Christ, to study what made Him such a great friend, and how, thanks to Jesus, we can all grow to become better friends. Audio Transcript: You're listening to audio from Mosaic Boston Church. If you'd like to check out more resources, learn about Mosaic Boston and our neighborhood churches, or donate to this ministry, please visit mosaicboston.com. Heavenly Father, Holy Son, and Holy Spirit, we thank you, Holy God, that you are a perfect community. In the Holy Trinity, there's a perfect friendship and perhaps that sounds a little strange to us in particular because the word friend has been so hallowed in our culture, and I pray today, Lord, that you re

Mastering Our Desires
03/11/2019 Duración: 54minSummary: Psalm 34:8 says: "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!" There is a seeing and tasting that is infinitely deeper than physical. Tasting God, who is supremely beautiful to the heart and exquisitely sweet to the soul, precedes seeing God. The only true way to master our harmful desires is to counter them with healthful desires. How can we learn to crave that which is best for us? Through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, God can recalibrate your taste buds, physical and spiritual. Only when this happens, can we talk about "tasting God." Audio Transcript: You're listening to Audio for Mosaic Boston Church. If you'd like to check out more resources, learn about Mosaic Boston and our neighborhood churches, or donate to this ministry, please visit MosaicBoston.com. Heavenly Father, we pray that you send us the Holy Spirit to show us what the Holy Spirit desires and, Holy Spirit, you desire to vivify in us and liven in us, resurrect in us affections for God. And why

27/10/2019 Duración: 51minSummary: How do we wrestle with the realities and complexities of our family situations today? How do we properly sort through the blessedness and the brokenness? Is it worth it to dig up all the dirt in order to move forward? How do we identify and interact with our biological families and the world given that Scripture tells us that when we're united to God through Christ we become a member of a new family?
