Episode #17- Crewing a race
08/03/2016 Duración: 01h06minWe are BACK IN THE BUS- Studio 78 never felt so good. The bus braved the rain and pulled into the Beus Trailhead in beautiful Ogden, Utah for a fun show. After we cover some of the basics we got right after it. Special guest- Crew Master/Studio78 repairman and all around good guy Lane Farka joined us to cover the ins and outs of crewing. Last week we covered pacing so the next logical step would be the best way to crew your runner. Although there is no "perfect" way to do it- we try to discuss the things that can make it a success. Being a part of a crew means you are part foot doctor, treasure map reader, nutritionist, cab dancer, motivational speaker, time manager and responsible friend. It may not all be roses and rainbows but to see your runner reach their goal is priceless. Don't forget to leave a reply on Facebook for a chance to win a free entry into the Beaverhead 100k or 50k. Also, don't forget to share the show and invite your friends to listen! And lastly- make sure you come by and say HELLO at the

Episode #16- Pacing and another TM contest
01/03/2016 Duración: 01h07minAfter we catch up on some local weekly news we jump right into a topic that is dear to our hearts- pacing. Now pacing a trail/ultra race is a totally different ball game than pacing at a road race. How do you select a pacer? What makes a good pacer? What are a pacers duties? Pacing pros and cons? Pacer preparations? Do you need a pacer? Is there pacing pressure? Pacer gifts? Car drops? We dive into all these topics and hope to answer some questions and entertain you at the same time. Make sure you listen to the end so you can jump in and participate in the next TM contest. We look forward to hearing those great pacer stories! Thanks for listening...enjoy! Episode #11- Luke Nelson: "You can do more than you think you can."
19/01/2016 Duración: 58minPODCAST note: There is a SMUT race contest with this episode. That's right- a free entry into the distance of your choice for Scout Mountain Ultra but that's not all- you will also receive a Patagonia hat AND shirt from the race. Make sure to listen to find out all the details.. With the Outdoor Retailers Show showing up in SLC, UT we knew we had to score a few high quality shows. The opportunity to throw a mic at Luke Nelson was a no brainer. Not only is he one of those people that you want to be around but he makes you feel warm and fuzzy. Luke grew up in the mountains but it wasn't until a dare to run a marathon got him fired up about running and the rest is history. Luke was dared to sign up a week before a local marathon (with no training) and he obliged. He had about a week to get ready so he started training. A few days after he registered he got in a 3 mile training run but that left his legs a bit tired and sore. In true runner fashion he decided to taper after those 3 miles and let the legs rest. A

Episode #10- Turd'l Miller: "Man, I feel like a woman."
12/01/2016 Duración: 44minIf you have ever been to a Ultra Adventure race, you most likely came across Turdl Miller. He is an all around good guy and let's face it- he is pretty darn funny too. Episode #9- Jim Skaggs: Race Directing and Enabling
05/01/2016 Duración: 44minIt's a New Year and here at TrailManners we are off and running. And we thought we would kick it off with a local legend, awesome RD and all around great guy- Jim Skaggs.Jim has been a solid presence in the Wasatch Mountains since they formed. He has done so much for the trail and ultra running community in Utah and we wanted to know more about him. He started the Buffalo Run with a little over 100 runners and now as he exceeds 800 he still hasn't lost that small race, home town feel. With his home brew and amazing wife Karen (the best stew cook this side of the Mississippi) they make sure all the runners have a great time before and after the race. You would be hard pressed to find a chink in his armor other than the fact he doesn't like IPA's. Jim not only puts on incredible races but he gets out and performs at the best of them too. He is a Grand Slammer and throws in the occasional 5k for fun. He is well versed in the art of racing- from timed runs on a flat track to going sub 30 at Wasatch. We were excit

Episode #7- Brian Beckstead: Altra Footwear, Ultra Fishing and Yes- Running
22/12/2015 Duración: 52minWe got lucky and caught up with Brian after locking him down between trips, running, being a family man and ultra fishing. He was kind enough to let us peek behind the curtain at Altra Footwear in Logan, Utah to see what they are up to. With a new "Smart shoe" ready to launch and a new apparel line with "the jacket every ultra runner should own" (which comes out 2/1)- we definitely felt lucky he penciled us in. Episode #5- Ty Draney: Fat biking, Barkley and "Type 3 Fun"
08/12/2015 Duración: 34minJust like a race- when you don't get the result you want, you come back for more. That is what happened when we sat down with Ty a few months back and did a show with him. It did not come out how we wanted so we had our people get in touch with his people and we were lucky enough to book him again. I say we were lucky because Ty does it all- coaching, race directing, running, coaching, racing, traveling, teaching, did I say coaching? and of course a great family man. Episode #4- Jennilyn Eaton: Suffering is humorous.
01/12/2015 Duración: 36minWith Studio 78 under the weather, we headed down to Salt Lake City to meet up with Jennilyn Eaton at Beans & Brews for some java and conversation. Luckily for us she had a small window in yet another busy day of being a mom, working at Park City Running Company training at Momentum and coming back from an injury. Early on we knew this was going to be a great show as she informed us of some major plans for 2016. The plan starts with trying to get into the Barkley Marathon and then follow that up with the "Wasatch Monopoly". Jennilyn will also throw her name into the Wasatch 100 lottery after receiving "the white dress"- on a dare. Needless to say Jennilyn will have her hands full and we here at TrailManners wish her the best of luck but after sitting down with her we are not sure she needs it!
