Episodios

  • Episode 63: The Place Beyond The Pines Ft. Jonathan Smathers

    11/04/2017 Duración: 01h27min

This is a fantastic movie for more than one reason. The structure is amazing, the writing and performances are fantastic and the cinematography is gorgeous. It really is a little outstanding piece of cinema with highly complex issues of morality weaved into the narrative. It's dope, you should watch it if you haven't. Cheers! • Episode 62: Pulp Fiction

    04/04/2017 Duración: 01h31min

"Say What again! Say what one more goddamn time, I dare you motherfucker, I double dare you. Say what one more time." Look, it's Pulp Fiction, there's not a lot I can say in this description that the title didn't already say. It's fucking Pulp Fiction, it's a classic. Most people say it's the best of Tarantino's work. I've watched this movie about a 100,000 times and I still found some new things while rewatching it for this episode. It's a great film and if you haven't watched it by this point, I recommend just sitting down with a nice snack and doing it. Cheers. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

  • Episode 61: Broadcast News - Criterion Collection

    28/03/2017 Duración: 01h19min

The movie has an excellent balance between the typicality of a romance film and the reality of relationships and a great side dish of socio political commentary centered towards the media. If you haven't seen it, I strongly recommend it. There's a reason it's a Criterion Film. In my opinion, it's the writing and the magnificent performances that bring it to life. Enjoy the Episode! • Episode 60: Girl, Interrupted - Ft. Devan Penegar.

    21/03/2017 Duración: 01h24min

Chris and Devan really love this movie. It's on their top movies of all time. I think it's a fantastic movie as well. You may appreciated the depiction of mental Illness in this film, non-romanticized and clinical. Hope you enjoy this episode, we're really happy that Devan was able to join us for this episode. If you don't remember him, he's the Director of Frayed Fabrics. If you're interested to check out what that's about you should listen to episode 44. His first appearance with Camille Dalke. Cheers! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

  • Episopde 59: Annie Hall

    14/03/2017 Duración: 01h18min

On this episode of For Films Sake we talk about the famous Annie Hall. I wanna call it a romantic comedy but its really a break-up comedy. I think this movie is absolutely brilliant at expressing feelings that would otherwise be metaphor as literal and it's what gives the film a large part of it's charm. Not too mention, it's fucking Woody Allen, which regardless of how you feel about him as a person is a brilliant filmmaker and comedic filmmakers could learn a thing or two from his skill. It's hilarious, I related a little too much to Alvy Singer and the dialogue was a treat to listen to. If you haven't seen it, I recommend that you watch it. If not for fun, watch it to learn something about comedy and comedic timing. Cheers! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

  • Episode 58: Fight Club

    07/03/2017 Duración: 01h23min

Yo! We're breaking the first rule of fight club and talking about it. I think this is one of the best "Twist" movies out there, it's on the same tier as Memento and The Sixth Sense. Absolutely brilliant movie. Even more so since David Fincher not only gives you the clues but expects you to find them. Making the movie more mentally interactive and effective than a lot of other movies that attempt the same thing. I love Fincher's work and this is one of my favourite his. The performances by the entire cast were absolutely fantastic too. Love this movie

  • Episode 56: The Edge Of Seventeen

    22/02/2017 Duración: 01h15min

Yo! We're talking Edge of Seventeen. I think this is a brilliant movie and was my top 1 on my top ten list of 2016. Emotionally accurate, it's a fresh take on the John Hughes type of comedy and it's heartbreakingly hilarious. If you haven't seen it, I strongly recommend it. It may look like another teen drama, but I guarantee you that it isn't just that. It's a lot of fun and as you'll be able to tell from the episode, I have a lot of fun talking about this movie and all the thoughts it can spawn.Cheers! Enjoy the show! (P.S. I fucked up and uploaded the wrong episode, so the 57 one is next week's. I'll make it public then. Cheers!)- Bryan. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

    21/02/2017 Duración: 01h07min

Yo Yo! It's been a while since we had one of these episodes. Jonathan joins us for a freestyle episode. I always love having Jonathan on for a freestyle. • Episode 55: John Wick Chapter 2

    14/02/2017 Duración: 01h08min

John Wick's back and he's out for blood! This is not only a great action movie, it's a great movie in general. You can really see the care and attentiveness that the filmmakers put into it. It stands out because everyone cares about the quality of it. It's a beautiful thing to see in an exceedingly increasing world of blandness in cinema. Hope you enjoy the show! Cheers! • Episode 54: Exit Through The Gift Shop

    07/02/2017 Duración: 01h03min

Today we're talking about Exit Through The Gift Shop. It's a neat little Documentary about an interesting guy by the name of Thierry Guetta, who followed Street Artists with a camera and ended up becoming a street artist himself followed by the camera he abandoned. There's not a lot of substance in terms of filmmaking, but the story telling is very well done and it's just a fun, interesting story. If you wanna check it out, it's available on Netflix. (remember to thank the friend that pays for your account.) Cheers! If you want the Video Version to this podcast The link is below

  • Episode 53: The Big Lebowski

    31/01/2017 Duración: 01h06min

  • Episode 52: The Darjeeling Limited - Criterion Collection

    24/01/2017 Duración: 01h24min

  • Episode 51: Nightcrawler

    17/01/2017 Duración: 01h17min

"I feel like gripping you by your ears and shouting "I'm not fucking interested. But instead I'm gonna go home and do some accounting. This is an excellent movie that explores sociopathy, ambition and the viewer's moral code. It's uncomfortable to watch but it looks absolutely gorgeous and Jake does not disappoint. Great film, if you haven't seen it, you definitely should. • Episode 50: The Strong Female Lead

    10/01/2017 Duración: 01h23min

Today we're gonna talk about the strong female lead and mention some of our favourites, it was honestly pretty fascinating to see how 10 years of difference in age can affect our lists of film and T.V. We need more women not only as film characters but also as people of import in the industry. Support the entertainment that encourages this. Cheers! • Episode 47: Birdman (Or The Unexpected Virtue Of Ignorance)

    20/12/2016 Duración: 01h33min

What are we doing here?Talking about Birdman. Man, that sounded funnier in my head. Look, we're talking Birdman. It's a great film, Alejandro G. Iñarratu did a brilliant job directing this film and although me and Chris loved it, it was for entirely different reasons. That's kind of my favourite thing about this movie. We recommend the hell out of it. Here's a link to watch it: https://www.amazon.com/Birdman-Michael-Keaton/dp/B00TPJE3ZK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482208775&sr=8-1&keywords=birdman See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

  • Episode 45: Heat

    06/12/2016 Duración: 01h17min

Today we talk about Heat, the Michael Mann movie where Al Pacino and Robert Deniro try to kill to each other. It's great, despite it being about an hour too long. Honestly, I'm a little fascinated by how me and Chris found such different elements of the movie entertaining and effective. We both really like the movie but I think it's for entirely different reasons. Except Pacino and Deniro, that's enough to love any movie. Cheers!-B See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
