Self-knowledge produces within each of us the kind of love and humility required to be in deep relationships with other people, especially people who may be different from us. The very people, in other words, that we need in order to be more like Jesus.

Part of knowing yourself is learning how your passions and desires intersect and align with the heart of God. If we want to find our holy passion, we need a heart that breaks over the things that break God’s heart.

It’s a pretty remarkable thing that you have interests, talents, and abilities that are different from just about everyone else around you. Where do your gifts come from? And what do they have to do with the Kingdom of God?

As followers of Jesus, we all know who we are trying to become. The harder question is, how do I get there? That’s where spiritual disciplines come into play. The hard truth is that if following Jesus doesn’t make it onto our calendars and into the rhythms of our lives, then we will never follow Him.

Our sin cuts us off from God and from our potential as fully-formed human beings in Christ. That’s why it’s so important to know how sin works on us and in us individually. We all fall in many ways, but we don’t all fall in the same ways.

We can’t hope to experience whole-life transformation if we plan to smuggle our old patterns of thinking into our new way of life. That’s why one of the core tasks for followers of Jesus is learning how to renew our minds.

Identity is the wellspring from which we get our sense of self-worth, security, fulfillment, and even purpose. The message of the gospel is that we have all been invited to find our life and our identity in Christ. Are you looking for a better version of yourself in 2021? The best version of you is you in Christ.

2020 was a year that most of us will be glad to put in the rearview mirror. But before we turn the page, we invite you to join us for one more morning of worship, prayer, and stillness. There is no better way to begin anew than by abiding in God.

There was a day in 2020 when the world seemed to shut down for all of us. In an instant, everything changed. Two thousand years ago, there was a moment that eclipsed all others, a moment when the whole world changed in an instant. The town was Bethlehem, the person was Jesus, and the event was Christmas.

Rarely, if ever, do we see the divine hand of God in the interruptions of life. Good thing we weren’t around on the first Christmas. It was nothing if not a series of interruptions.

Has 2020 left you exhausted and in need of a fresh encounter with God? That’s what Christmas is all about. In an instant, everything can change.

When it comes to the inevitable uncertainties of life, most of us have learned worry, anxiety, and fear as our default responses. But those who know the God of the universe are invited to learn to respond to uncertainty a little differently.

Is God empathetic? Does He know my pain? Does He feel my grief? Fortunately, we know the answer to these questions because of what happened in the first century, on a hot day outside the tomb of a man named Lazarus, when death reigned and Jesus wept.

Discomfort is an inevitable reality of life. And while we may be tempted to turn to any number of things to numb, dull, or ease our discomforts, the only lasting solution is the comfort of God Himself. And the good news for the world is that people who have experienced God's comfort are perfectly positioned to share that comfort with others.

It can often be difficult to make connections and build relationships with the people that don’t share our political views. But if we are going to take the mission of Jesus seriously, this is precisely what we must learn to do.

Yesterday we took a pause from our current series to have a day of prayer and worship. We wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for the outpour of love and prayer for our pastor. We ask that you continue to keep him and his family in your prayers and that the steps toward improvement continue.

Any movement that seeks to influence the culture must tell a different and better story from within that culture. The church has a better story to tell, and it’s very different from any on offer by the political parties.

Your favorite candidate will win or lose based on how our country votes this November. However, the church will win or lose based on our behavior between now and then.
