In Matthew 13:24-30, Jesus tells the parable of the wheat and the weeds. Planted in the same field by different farmers, the wheat and the weeds grew together. It’s amazing how much of life is balanced on a few critical decisions. Seize them and your life finds meaning and joy; miss them and your life can be full of pain and regret. In Mark 11:27-12:12, Jesus tells a parable about missed opportunity. Join us as Lash continues our series on the parables of Jesus with a sermon entitled Turning Points.

Jesus said, "You are the light of the world." Jesus spoke of faith that soars into the heavens and changes the world. But what does this light and faith look like in everyday life? Forgiveness: we all need it, and yet it can be a very difficult thing to extend to others. Especially, when you or people that you love have been hurt. Yet, the ability to forgive and move forward is critical to finding peace. We’ve all had the conversation: someone you know is struggling and they need your help. How do you help people overcome the mistakes of their past and move forward to enjoy the life God has given? In Galatians 6:1-10, the Scriptures teach us four things that each of us can do to help ourselves and others break free from the mistakes of yesterday and find the peace of God today.

In every conflict there is opportunity. If you choose to see through the lenses of faith, hope, and love, you can find opportunity in any situation. The difference between a joyful heart and a troubled heart often comes down to vision. Joyful people see opportunity when others see despair. Scripture: Matthew 5:9, I Corinthians 10:31-11:1

If you want peace in your life, it’s not going to be found in selfish decisions of the hear; those are the decisions of conflict. If you want peace in your life, it will be found by surrendering your life to the one who laid down his life for you. Peace will be found when you draw near to God and the Spirit of God draws near to you. The peace of God is not the absence of storms, but it is the calm that is found from God’s presence within the storms. Passage: Matthew 5:9, Gal 6:7-10

In James 4:1-10 the Bible asks a very pointed questions, “What is the cause of wars and fights among you?” The Scriptures teach us that ultimately conflict begins in the heart. But, God offers us real answers for overcoming conflict and finding peace. Join us this Sunday as we continue our series Finding Peace with a sermon entitled “The Heart of the Matter.”

In our society it’s easy to get so busy doing what you do that you forget who you are. One day Jesus took his followers up a mountain. As they enjoyed the beautiful view, fresh air, and calm meadows. Jesus reminded them that "the peacemakers are blessed for they will be called sons of God (Matt 5:9).” Join us as we begin a new series entitled Finding Peace with Part 1: Becoming a Peacemaker. It usually starts small and then something happens. Before you know it, what started as a small isolated event reacts into a “Zoom Out” where the action moves outward so quickly that eventually what once was small becomes large. The resurrection of Jesus Christ prompted the largest “Zoom Out” the world has even seen. What began as an isolated event soon brought hope to millions transcending time, geography, and culture. The Son of God was right there and yet many missed him because he was not the Messiah they had imagined. When you are stuck in your imaginary image of what God should be and do you miss what He’s really doing and who He really is. The reality of God is where joy is found. Looking at John 12:12-19

One day. . . It's a favorite saying for many of us. "One day life will be better; one day I'll understand; one day I'll change." But what if, one day is today? What if the key to one day is knowing "the One?" Join us Sunday as we look at how God changed one woman's life when she had her "One Day" from John 4:1-26).

The first sin had a devastating, domino-like, effect on both humanity and the world in which we live. Suddenly the goodness of creation was stained by evil. But God made a choice, to intervene into the scene so that we might be redeemed. The Old Testament revolves around a series of promises that God made to His people, and these promises ultimately lead us to the Christ: Jesus.

The opening line of Scripture reads, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Christians believe that you and the world that you live are not an accident, instead you were created for a purpose. Like most things in life, until you are able to see the big picture, you usually struggle with success. God’s creativity is not accidental, understanding its “why’s” brings life into focus.
