The spirit of gratitude flows from the fountain of God’s grace. When grace erases the stain of sin from our soul, the result is a life free to love much. Join us this week as we prepare our hearts for Thanksgiving with a sermon entitled The Spirit of Gratitude.

Sometimes it’s easy to miss it, even though the signs are all right in front of us. We tend to see what we want to see and overlook what we don’t want to see. Amazingly, sometimes we miss God even when He’s when the signs or His love are right in front of us. Jesus healed the blind and raised the dead, and, amazingly, many missed it. In the words of Jesus “We played the flute for you, but you did not dance.” Join us this week as we look at Luke 7:18-29 in a sermon entitled Flutes without Dancing.

There’s a fine line between winning and losing, joy and sorrow, victory and defeat. In Luke 7:11-17, we see “The Collision of the Crowds.” One of the crowds was filled with joy; the other crowd was filled with grief. Both crowds reached a point, where they had no solutions. It was at that point, that God revealed that he is the solution. Jesus gave something only God can give: new life.

Jesus was continually forcing us to wrestle with this question: “Where do I place my hope?” Where you place your hope is where we find your faith. Christ's call was to place our faith in Him, not ourselves, not society, not an unknown force. Jesus called us to trust in Him. Join us this week as we look at two stories of faith from Luke 7:1-16, in a sermon entitled Living in the Faith World.

It’s amazing how much of life hinges on little decisions driven by character. Our lives become the sum of decisions we make, and the decisions we make are the canvas of wisdom’s art or the fool’s folly. In Luke 6:46-49, Jesus tells the story of two men whose lives looked very similar until the storm blew in and the foundations were exposed, and, then, their fates couldn’t have been more different. One of the most exciting spiritual breakthroughs is to awaken to the reality of salvation by grace. In grace, I do good things because I am God’s child, rather than doing good things in hopes of becoming God’s child. As Lash likes to say, “I do because I am not in order to be.” Jesus teaches this idea in Luke 6:43-45 through the illustration of a fig tree. What did Jesus mean when he said, “Judge not, less you be judged?” It’s a verse that finds its way into conversations between family, friends, and neighbors. We all desire a life filled with blessings, laughter, and joy, and we do all sorts of things trying to achieve that life. God has a divine right to make choices for His creation. Because we are not God, we often do not understand the choices God has made. Sometimes we become spiritually stale as we wrestle to accept the divine choices of God. Join us this week study Luke 6:12-16 in a sermon entitled Divine Choices.

In our fast-paced, highly-mobile, always connected, society, mercy and rest are often hard to find. Enter God, who reminds us of the basic human need that each of us have to slow down so that we can hear the voice of God and see the needs around us. For years they practiced praying and fasting: waiting on an answer from God. When God sent His Son, the answer had arrived. But, it was difficult for many to realize that Jesus was not just a modification of what was. Jesus brought a whole new beginning fulfilling what had been and making possible the impossible. We’re not sure when it happened to Levi. Growing up in Galilee, he too had suffered under the violence and greed of Rome. But now, he found himself captive to the very things he once despised; he was a tax collector exploiting his own neighbors. His countrymen considered him the lowest of the low, but Jesus knew that he was not beyond the reach of grace and extended to him a new beginning.

Every week we share the requests: family members, friends, neighbors in need of a healing. We pray for their healing and encourage them to faith. Sometimes, their bodies get better; sometimes they don’t, and we are left to wonder why? This week we look at Luke 5:12-16 as we look at two men who received physical healing from Jesus and explore how God’s will goes beyond the physical realm desiring to bring spiritual healing to the soul.

Most of us eventually get there: that point in life when we quit dreaming, quit exploring, and quit pushing our comfort zones. We settle into a routine, tolerate things we could change, and draw the boundaries that define our life. But what happens when God interrupts the routine, challenges you to try something new, and calls you to a new life with new dreams? Do you follow or do you settle?

Who is the ultimate source of authority in your life? There are a lot of options: your opinion, Facebook, politics, friends, family, pragmatics, etc. Your ultimate source of authority reveals the object of your worship. Many desire to be free, but instead find themselves trapped, because they are worshiping the wrong things. But the message of Jesus brings power and truth to overcome the bondage of evil. He wants you to find freedom in His authority. Text: Luke 4:31-44
