Sens Callups - Ottawa Senators Podcast

In this week's episode, we get ready for the trade deadline.  in a Corvo and Comrie-ish move, we bring back Russell (@RussellSU1) from the old Sens Underground!  We had the Heritage Classic this week and had one pretty good game and a really bad game.  - Red Wings 6 @ Sens 1  - Sens 4 @ Canucks 2 We get (only) one e-mail which gest us going on multiple Sens trade rumours and seeing what good ol' Tim Murray is up to.  Brief chatter around the Olympics and some of the rule differences between the Olympics and the NHL.

We have had lots of games to recap. Game On!  - Lightning 3 @ Sens 5  - Sens 3 @ SeaOfPoo 6  - Sens 1 @ Pens 2 (OT)  - Sens 5 @ Blues 4 (SO)  - Sabres 2 @ Sens 3  - Sens 2 @ Bruins 7....oh Lord...   Cowen hasn’t had the best couple games in the top 2 and we break down the defence. Kassian also gets more discussion than ice time. Spezza haters get facts thrown at them and we look at Bingo and the game played up in Ottawa. This week, another 0.500 week for the Sens on the ice. The Sens end up with half the points that they could have gotten this year with some lack luster play. That said, they’re still deep in the playoff race.  - Habs 5 @ Sens 4 (OT)  - Rangers 4 @ Sens 1  - Sens 2 @ Caps 0 #ThanksObama   Marc Methot missed a game and seems to be in a bit of hot water with the coaching staff, or is it an opportunity to showcase others? We get interactive with various tweets and e-mails, talk about the debacle in Vancouver/Calgary and other news around the league. Will this team make the playoffs? Will there be a trade soon? Will Phillips continue to point and random things? We’ll find out!

This week has been pretty much good news for the Sens (and for Pan’s new car). Lots of points earned and re-upping Bryan Murray for a couple more years and retaining and promoting Randy Lee and Pierre Dorion to retain the brain trust of the executive.  - Sens 3 @ Avs 4 (OT)  - Sens 2 @ Preds 1  - Sens 3 @ Wild 0   Murray and Melnyk promise better results on the ice with better options. This means higher ticket prices but also much better experience at the arena and game. We read some e-mail and tweets and thanks go out to the donors. Lots of key games coming up as the race to the playoffs continues!

It's a short week for the Sens SO WHY DON'T WE TALK ABOUT IT FOR 2 HOURS?!?!?!?!  - Jets 3 @ Sens (without Pan) 4  - Sens 4 @ Habs 3 Paul Maclean has some positive things to say as life without Spezza goes on! We keep on rolling with wins, talk about the Olympics, say goodbye to Tim Murray. A little laughing at the Leafs, and choices for the Olympic team. Good emails and we're ready for more! We're back after the Holidays and return with lots of game recaps.  It's been really an up and down season and at the midway point of the year, it's hard to tell what to make of this team.  - Sens 2 @ Devils 5  - Panthers 4 @ Sens 2  - Coyotes 4 @ Sens 3 (OT)  - Penguins 0 @ Sens 5  - Sens 0 @ Bruins 5  - Bruins 3 @ Sens 4  - Capitals 1 @ Sens 3   Pan and Canuck talk about the Sens Blogger Classic, rumours about Michael Del Zotto to Ottawa reimurge and some talk about things going on in the league, along with the Leafs shooting themselves in the foot with their anticipated resigning of Phaneuf to max dollars and term, rumours about Kadri, some world juniors a couple e-mails and urge you to join the fun with # SEAofBlue   We hope you all have a Happy and safe New Years! It’s still been an up and down week for the Sens. Speaking of up and down, (TWSS) JGP and Cody Ceci come up to the big team. Both make a big impression on the team by potting goals in the St. Louis game. Things are looking better... or worse...  - Buffalo 1 @ Sens 2 Yup yup yup  - LA 5 @Sens 2 Nope nope nope  - Blues 2 @ Sens 3 Yup yup yup Kardinal and Pan bicker to the point where we forget what we're talk about and then end up on the same side. Prize to anyone who figures out what we were talking about and what our opinions were. In this week, more of the same!  - Sens 1 @ Lightning 3  - Leafs 4@ Sens 3 (SO)  - Flyers 4 @ Sens 5 (SO)  - Sens 1 @ Buffalo 2 (SO)   There’s some news on the Sens with Hoffman going back to Bingo and Cowen suspended for 2 games which a lot of people were hoping that he sat out anyway. Shootouts are apparently fun. Lots of stuff around the league and we get some good e-mails - WHY YOU NOT EEEEEMAIILL HAAAARDAAAAAH

It was somewhat of an emotional week with Alfie coming back to town for the first time, but still lots of news with the new Heritage Jerseys and a surprising 500 win percentage.  - Sens 6 @ Caps 4  - Canucks 5 @ Sens 2  - Red Wings 4 @ Sens 2  - Sens 4 @ Panthers 2   We announce the winner of our Sens Call Ups contest and read out the very touching e-mail from our winner.  We need more e-mails and more action on the forums.  Tell your friends!

The results on the ice continue to waver and there doesn’t seem to be a clear front runner as a constant in goal.  - Wild 4 at Sens 3  - Sens 2 at Red Wings 4  - Sens 1 at Hurricanes 4 Not much happens news wise with the Sens, except for the Rangers declining taking a pile of spare parts for Del Zotto, but we look at the news of the new Canadian National TV contract. Pan does more math with the Forbes article on valuations and we read no e-mail.

The Sens still struggle in the win column and everyone tries to look for answers. In those answers are a variety of trade rumours that have come out - most of which are laughable.  - Bruins 2 @ Sens 4  - BJs 4 @ Sens 1  - Flyers 5 @ Sens 2 Lots of e-mails to read through this week and we’re Ready For More!

This has been an abysmal week on the ice with very poor efforts. The big news of the week is seeing a familiar face on the ice. That’s right, Mika Zibanejad has been called up to rejoin the Sens! We get a couple of games at home this week of which some was bad, and some was good.  - Devils 2 @ Sens 5  - Oilers 3 @ Sens 1  - Sens 6 @ Red Wings 1 Oh - and we play against Alfie for the first time. After the road trip, we discuss some different in game experience at Canadian Tire Center from the games that we’ve been to up to now. Around the League, Shannahan has been busy in suspensions, there’s been some in season retirements and a few trade rumours going around. Don’t forget to EEEEEMMMMAAAILLL THE SHOW!!!!

The Call Ups return from the #SCUPacific trip and appeared to have a better time than the Sens. We recap the games while also talking about our experience at the different arenas.  - Sens 3 @ LA 4 OT Loss  - Sens 2 @ San Jose 3  - Sens 1 @ Anaheim 4  - Sens 4 @ Phoenix 3   We talk about what’s wrong with the team and minor adjustments to see how to use the roster and who should just "GET OFF MY TEAM!" Lots of e-mails for talking points and look around the league.

We have a couple of games in the books with Craig Anderson really competing for the Team USA job. After very quick game recaps (thanks again CBInc) we have chats with Stuntman Stu Schwartz, the Canadian Tire Centre Public Address Announcer, as well as Ian Mendes from the new TSN1200!  - Sens 1 @ Sabres 0  - Sens 4 @ Leafs 5 (SO)   A quick look at the league, more money talk (we promise we’re done on that for a long time) and various cap hits. Canuck and Pan are looking forward to their trip and hope to be able to record while away.

The preseason is now over and the Sens wrap up in a disappointing fashion. Pan’s under the weather and it’s a late recording. We briefly take a look at who’s been in and out of the line up, who should be on the team and who’s definitely off. A quick look at notable player movement around the league rolls into the fold and we look at some twitter fun and read out some e-mails.

We’re back at it - it’s a little rusty to come back and we don’t have full games to talk about. After a quick look back through the rookie camp and current early cuts along with what’s  going on in the rest of camp and pre-season games.  We also look forward to the season by speaking with Alex Marchand, @SenatorsDJ, on how the background workings and the game day experience is at the CTC. We zoom around the league again including touching at the disaster that is the Calgary Flames and spend more time on the Florida Panthers than most people in Florida do.
