Loon Mountain Ministry's Podcast

Today we return to the mountain for our first mountain top service of the season.  To kickstart this new season, we are embarking on a new sermon series on the Parables of Jesus.  To open, Drew shares a message on the "Loving Father" from the Parable of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15:11-32.

Nathan Jenkins returns from Word of Life and begins with a teaching from Matthew 28:18-19 and 20L 25-28.  In this teaching, Nathan is focused on our identity in Christ by asking who is God, what has he done, and who am I in light of who God is and what he has done.

Today's sermon is presented by Andre LaPlante, Treasurer of LMM. Andre is teaching from Mark 12:38-13:2, the story of the widow and her two copper coins.  While this passage is typically used to teach on financial giving, Andre presents another perspective to help us understand what Jesus is teaching.

Today we are welcomed into studying God's word by Jim Smith, another of a series of guest speakers visiting LMM and assisting with the teachings.  Jim spoke from  Luke 24: 13-35, with a lesson on remembering what we have read in God's Word.

On Easter Sunday, Nathan Jenkins joins us to speak about being a Fan of Jesus v. a Follower of Jesus.  It's a tough lesson, one that we all should hear and really think about.  For this sermon, Nathan used Matthew 16: 24-26.

Today Brian Smoker begins the Passion Week with a sermon from John 12:12-19.

The morning before Marcus, Heidi, and the kids left for Georgia to begin the Appalachian Trail, Marcus spoke on rest, referencing Psalm 23.

A week before leaving on his sabbatical, Marcus shares about what it means to rest.

Today Marcus shares the story of St. Patrick and what can happen when we trust God and walk through the doors He opens.  The passage was taken from Philippians 2:3-11.

On March 10, Jose shares with us about sheep and the Good Shepherd.

Romans 16 is the final chapter of Paul's letter to the believers in Rome.  Paul opens this letter by addressing and commending 27 different people, by name, many he may have never met.  Marcus shares that Paul has a love for people that extends beyond the local church, but is part of a larger movement of sharing the love and grace of the gospel to the world.

The beginning of the end in the book of Romans.  This is where Paul begins to wrap of this letter. Paul is reminder the readers of God's plan for bringing the gospel to the whole world.  God's plan for salvation began with the nation of Israel but there was a bigger picture, a greater goal.Romans 15:8-13

On December 30, Marcus shared a remarkable story about a missionary to the South Pacific.  In this story, Marcus focuses on the truth that what we think is our, time, money, resources, etc, are not actually ours and the freedom we receive when we recognize that all belongs to God.Scripture for this sermon is from Luke 6:27-36 & Luke 14:33

The fourth advent candle, the candle of love.  Marcus spoke from John 3:16 and 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.

While on Christmas Break from Word of Life, Nathan leads our third week of Advent on Peace.  Todays scripture reading comes from John 12:25-27, however, in an effort to dig deep and develop a rich meaning of the way peace is used in scripture, Nathan teaches from Isaiah 26:1-4, Luke 2:8-4, and Philippians 4:2-7.

The original plan for this sermon was based in the Song of Zachariahs, however just prior to Sunday, Marcus was inspired to go a different direction.  On Sunday, Marcus focused on Mary's belief.  The sermon was based in Luke Chapter 1.
