Episode 124: A Conversation with Jessie
15/10/2020 Duración: 57minOne of my very favorite things about these Trailercast conversations is the opportunity to really get to know listeners. The opportunity to hear from you; to hand you the mic and see where the conversation leads. It is always a thrill to unpack your stories, and always leaves me with an immense feeling of gratitude and awe. In this episode you get to meet Jessie, and I just loved talking to her. We dive right into her story, beginning with a cancer diagnosis in high school. We talk about survival and healing and love. We talk about being a part of something bigger than ourselves and experiences where our stories cross and intersect with the divine. We touch on what is happening in her life now: on teaching and learning and living through this pandemic. We talk about her journey with trying to have a baby, and the truth that we are not alone on whatever path we find ourselves on. Enjoy. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/trailercast/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/trailercast/sup

Episode 123: If You Want a Garden...
08/10/2020 Duración: 19minIf you follow me on Instagram, you may have see that my family and I have moved. We have moved out of the house that my husband has literally lived his whole life in, and that I have lived in longer than any other space. In this process of moving, we’ve found ourselves in the process of demo and reconstruction. And because as you know, I love a metaphor, it’s given me a lot to think about and process through. And because I’ve been banned from the inside of the house as the real contractors do their thing and don’t need me in the way, I’ve been working in yard pretending to be a master gardener. So much beauty and metaphor have come out of this garden work, and I am honored to share it with you. Episode 122 - Interview with Brit Barron aka my friend "Beans".
02/10/2020 Duración: 49minIn this episode of Trailercast I get to sit down and talk to my good friend Brit Barron. Brit is an author, speaker, pastor, anti-racist educator and her first book Worth It is out now! Brit grew up in an Evangelical megachurch in the '90s, trying to fit neatly inside the boundaries her church and its narrow view of God had placed around her. She was boxed in by her fears, unable to realize her full potential. All that changed when she met a girl named Sami, fell in love, and chose to leave behind those narrow boundaries in favor of a fuller and more vibrant life. In Worth It, Brit tells her story to inspire all of us to overcome our own fears--the kinds of fears that keep us from evolving beyond the narratives that have been handed to us by others. We can't avoid or outrun these fears, but if we face them, we'll find out that it was so worth it. In this episode of Trailercast, you get to hear a sneak peak into Chapter 7, and listen in to us discuss the way that our lives intersected in such a way that brough

121 - Interview with Kayla Huszar
17/08/2020 Duración: 01h02minIn this episode of Trailercast, I sit down with Kayla Huszar, and we talk all things motherhood. Raw, unscripted motherhood. Or, as Kayla so perfectly calls it, the motherload. The load is heavy. And Beautiful. And hard. And fun. And all the things in-between. Kayla, a mom of two young kiddos herself, offers postpartum support and expressive art therapy for moms. We talk about her work, the about the stories we tell ourselves surrounding motherhood, and how we can reframe being a mom in the light of being a human. Even if you are not a mom yourself, I think you’ll benefit from this conversation when you consider your relationship with your own mom. We all have work to do around motherhood. My hope is that you leave this episode and conversation with Kayla feeling like I did… lighter and more at peace. 120 - A Conversation with Stu
10/08/2020 Duración: 59minThis episode of Trailercast is a special one, because not only do I sit down and talk with the first male guest we’ve had in this new series of conversations, but also a dear friend of mine. In this episode you get to meet my friend, Stu. Stu and I have built a foundation of trust and honesty over the years, and that helps organically lead this conversation into more raw and vulnerable spaces as we talk about what this season of COVID has been like for him. Listen in as we talk about how quarantine has affected his drive, his ideas around success, and what it looks like to give yourself grace, possibly for the first time in your life. Listen to a human being, being himself and in doing so, granting us permission to be ourselves too. Discover through this conversation that we can sit in discomfort, and still be okay. Witness honest, heart-to-heart work happening in real time. Rainer Maria Rilke said “Love the questions in themselves,” and we dig into that idea in this conversation. The truth is, we as humans l

119 - A Conversation about Vaginas
03/08/2020 Duración: 01h02minYep, you read that right! This episode of Trailercast is about vaginas. Listen in as I sit down with a friend and we have a candid, brave and important conversation about her experience with what it is like to wait for marriage to have sex, and then physically not be able to because of vaginismus. This is such a needed conversation that often is only had behind closed doors, if at all. But we are meant to live fully integrated and whole. We need to be having more conversations about women’s bodies, women’s pleasure and women’s sexuality. We need to be creating safe community and spaces to talk about these things. Full restoration and healing is possible in all things, including your sex life. And as promised during the episode, here is a link to Dr. Celeste Holbrook, sexologist, speaker and author who has dedicated her life to helping women achieve soul-centered sex through perfectly planned mental and behavioral changes. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/trailercast/message Support this podca

118 - A Conversation with Ashley
27/07/2020 Duración: 01h01minThis episode is for anyone out there who might be feeling “stuck.” Ashley is a wife of ten years, a mom of two young boys and an accomplished teacher, who wrote into the show saying, “I have been feeling like there is so much more for my life and am struggling to get unstuck and be able to see what is next for me… I’d love to have a convo with you about how to finally get unstuck and see who I am made to be!” Can anyone relate? I know I can! Ashely and I have an amazing conversation, and I’m so glad you get to listen in. We talk about purpose, passion, meaning and career. We throw the metaphorical spaghetti on the wall to see what might stick, and move from a scarcity mindset to a growth mindset as I help Ashley uncover the dreams that have been there all along. I hope this conversation gives you the permission to be free and think big, and then take action knowing you are so worth the life you want to live. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/trailercast/message Support this p

117 - A Conversation with Nicole
20/07/2020 Duración: 01h24minDuring this Trailercast conversation, you’ll get to meet Nicole. We jump right in feet first with Nicole describing an “a-ha” moment she had that came to her in the most ordinary of places on the most ordinary of days, but changed everything. This conversation is jam-packed full of important truths and the kind of wisdom and self-awareness that comes when we dig in and do our work. Nicole has a strong inner-monologue, and speaks from a place of deep knowing. We touch on postpartum depression and motherhood, finding healing from childhood longing, and the heroes journey. My hope is that you walk away from listening to this conversation knowing that you are the main character of your own life, and that all the ingredients you need to find wholeness are already within you. 116 - A Conversation with Maggie
16/07/2020 Duración: 01h11minIn this Trailercast conversation, you get to listen in on an intimate and important conversation as I sit down with my friend Maggie, and we pick right back up where we left off in a bar about a year ago in Denver. At the time that we had this Trailercast conversation, we were in the thick of quarantine and Maggie was pregnant with her third. We begin our conversation by comparing the gestational period to the universal experience we’ve all had staying at home during this pandemic. We talk about all of the parallels that can be drawn between between being at home in our houses and at home in our bodies. The good, the hard, and everything in-between. We talk about embodiment, and the painful stories we are given about our bodies. We talk about our mother tongue, and the voice that we speak to ourselves in. Is she loving? Is she critical? And we talk about inner kindness, and radical compassion for ourselves. As you listen to this episode I hope you feel the fire of what it is like to watch a woman who is sayin

115 - A Conversation with Jen
13/07/2020 Duración: 01h25minThis week’s Trailercast conversation is with Jen. I actually had the pleasure of getting to know Jen awhile back when she attended Weekends! Jen is a total boss and so much fun to talk to, and this conversation is so relatable. We talk about people-pleasing, the difference between invisibility and being unseen, and what it is like to be a woman in a professional space. We talk about remembering who we are, and the difference in knowing in our heads verses knowing in our gut. We talk about quarantine and boundaries and resilience and so much more. And we talk about Weekends! We remember all of the great work that Jen began there and talk about what has happened in her life since. If you’ve ever been curious about attending Weekends and wanted a sneak peak into some of the work we do there, this conversation is for you! This conversation is jam-packed full of truths, and my hope is that something in Jen’s story connects to yours in such a way that you walk away feeling encouraged and seen. If you are interested

114 - A Conversation with BJ Hickman
08/07/2020 Duración: 57minI had the honor and pleasure of sitting down with a kindred spirit, BJ Hickman. BJ is an Emotional Wellness Master Coach and we had about a million things on the list of possible things we could talk about here, but decided to just jump right in and see where the conversation took us. And I’m so glad we did. There is magic to be found in the unplanned, messy middle and that is exactly what happens in this episode. BJ and I explore everything from the enneagram, to attachment theory, to what it is like to change careers and start anew later in life. We talk about resilience and tenacity and the power in a name. My hope is that you walk away from listening in on this conversation with an inner rebellion of know that what has been doesn’t always have to be, and what could be is totally in your hands. 113 - Entity Vs Action, Remembering, and Living the Good.
03/07/2020 Duración: 20minIn this episode of Trailercast, I reflect on three different ideas, separate but related. First off, Entity vs Action. What happens when we pair action words to our identity? What happens when we build a lifestyle around our roles, and call that who we are? We often forget that we don’t have to earn our roles; that we already are. What would happen if we were able to find the distinction between “doing the thing” and “you already are the thing.” If we were to return to who we are, verses what we do. And in that same vein, I explore the importance of remembering who we are. How do we learn to see ourselves in truth, and live in that clarity? Lastly, we discuss the idea of living from the good. What would your life be like if you were to live from the best possible storyline? If you were to operate from a place of I AM GOOD? How would that change our relationships, both with ourselves and others? Experiment with giving yourself the benefit of the doubt that you made it. You are good. --- Send in a voice mess

112 - A Conversation with Terces
30/06/2020 Duración: 01h50sThis episode you meet Terces. I cannot wait for you to listen to this conversation! It’s packed full of insight and wisdom. Terces and I have the honor of doing work together, and I think that you’ll find her to be an incredibly fascinating woman. She and her husband are the founders of Cafe Gratitude and Gracias Madre, plant-based restaurants, and they own, operate and live on Be Love Farm, a regenerative family farm. She speaks, she teaches, and she hosts the Unreasonably Grateful podcast. In this episode, we talk about the ways that this season of quarantine has uncovered what was already there within us and given the gift of clarity. We talk about what the re-entering process might look like, and how we are going to hold onto the lessons learned over the past few months. How to not go back to the way things were before COVID, but rather start life anew. And we talk about the importance of not letting re-entering into the “old” way of life eclipse the clarity that is being gained in this season. SHOW LINKS

111 - Reflections: The Duality of Embodiment - The Body Remembers it ALL
25/06/2020 Duración: 26minIn 2014 Bessel van der Kolk published The Body Keeps the Score about the affects of trauma on the body. It was and is a great bridge between the psychological community and the medical community, and is honestly a great book. But in this episode of Trailercast, we go a step further. Today I explore the ways that the body not only holds trauma, but also triumph. The body holds it ALL. Our job, is to remember both. To drop into our body and find the places where power, beauty and triumph reside. To pay attention to where the truth is. Our body also remembers this. Our job is to hold the both/and. In this episode we take time to scan our bodies, noticing where resilience lives within us. And we discuss the ways that we can use that remembrance of what is good and triumphant within us as a tool whenever the stored trauma comes up. Your resilient self is alive and well. That is the self that what we want to reach for. SHOW LINKS Join the Trailercast Community Elyse Snipes on Instagram --- Send in a voice messag

110 - A Conversation with D'Ann
25/06/2020 Duración: 01h08minWelcome to the first episode in a new style of conversations we’ll be having here on Trailercast. My hope is that as you listen, you’ll find things in D’Ann’s story that relate to your own. That as you connect to her unboxing, things also become unboxed for you. When I put it out there on Instagram that I was looking for listeners who were willing to come on the show and have important, pivotal conversations with me, the very first person that reached out to me was D’Ann. She jumped into this conversation open, honest and ready to get in to the heart of things. She was the perfect first guest for this new style of conversations Trailercast episodes. In the middle of this global experience that quarantine has been, D’Ann and I dive into the ways that this season has been getting to the lower layers and bringing to light dreams, desires and new ideas that were previously buried for her. D’Ann finds herself asking the question, “What else could there be? What could we build and create?” as she contemplates

Episode 106: Death. Or is it life?
05/04/2020 Duración: 32minToday's episode is extremely personal and extremely vital. I interview my friend who is dying. Given what we are facing as a global community we had considered for a fraction of a moment waiting on this episode ... but we both share a bit of the f*ck it's and decided if not now, when? Isn't this actually the best time? As people are actually awake and facing this reality with eyes open. The truth is, we are all facing death everyday. The other truth is that we don't talk about this stuff - death, dying, cancer ... unless we are personally affected by it and even then we fumble. I originally thought that maybe this episode would be a part of the taboo series I am doing, but I can't decide if death is the most taboo or the least taboo thing ever. It is our future, it is our shared reality, it is life when you really think about it. May this episode open you up, may it invite you into places and thoughts and feelings and memories you need to have. May it also be a catalyst, a comfort and an honest place for refl
