Pilot Study

Informações:

Sinopsis

Chris and Grimes dig deep into the world of television pilot episodes. We don't talk about episode 2. We hate second episodes.

Episodios

  • Episode 8: The X-Files

    11/01/2016 Duración: 50min

Theme Month: Monster Hunters Episode 8 of Pilot Study is the start of "Monster Hunter Month." And with its Fox revival later this month, it was the perfect opportunity to talk The X-Files, which premiered in 1993. Stick around for talk on a key 3-minute sequence, cults in middle America and the signs of alien abduction.

  • Episode 7: Red Oaks

    29/12/2015 Duración: 31min

Theme Month: Amazon Originals Episode 7 of Pilot Study finishes out Amazon Month with "Red Oaks," an '80s-set comedy featuring big (behind the scenes) names such as Steven Soderbergh, David Gordon Green and Greg Jacobs. Stick around for talk about Grimes' high school band (West Side Laundry FOR LIFE). Coming Soon: A Month of Monster Hunters.

  • Episode 6: The Man In The High Castle

    23/12/2015 Duración: 01h03min

Theme Month: Amazon Originals Episode 6 of Pilot Study takes aim at Nazis, bland leads and people who are really, really bad at being sneaky. Like....stop looking over your god damn shoulder all the time! The Man In The High Castle, which is streaming its first season in full at Amazon, is an adaptation of the Philip K. Dick novel of the same name.

  • Episode 5: Highston

    20/12/2015 Duración: 29min

Theme Month: Amazon Originals Episode 5 of Pilot Study centers on "Highston." The new Amazon pilot features a main character who interacts with random celebrities, making for a cameo fest. We talk about those cameos, what era this show is actually set in and if we would want a full season from this cast. Stick around for the first appearance of "Grimes Got Beef."

  • Episode 4: One Mississippi

    15/12/2015 Duración: 28min

Theme Month: Amazon Originals The newest episode of Pilot Study centers around One Mississippi, the possible Amazon series featuring Tig Notaro. The episode is part of our Amazon pack of shows, in which we'll look at two recently up for vote (Amazon lets viewers vote on pilots to see what goes to series) and two that made it through the selection process. Stick around for how this story may be better suited to movie length and why Grimes hates Star Wars so damn much.

  • Episode 3: The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air

    10/12/2015 Duración: 37min

The newest episode of Pilot Study is all about Will Smith's breakout role, Uncle Phil's words of wisdom and Carlton....well whatever he does in this pilot episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Stick around for talk about how the episode should have ended and some talk about the next month of Pilot Study episodes.

  • Episode 2: Ferris Bueller

    04/12/2015 Duración: 27min

The second episode of the Pilot Study launch centers around an inexplicable, highly unintelligible TV adaptation of Ferris Bueller's Day Off. In the opening minutes, our new Bueller (more just a dick than high school prophet) cuts the head off a Matthew Broderick cut-out with a chainsaw. And it just gets worse from there. Stick around for my theory on what universe this show actually exists in.

  • Episode 1: The Twilight Zone

    19/11/2015 Duración: 31min

The pilot episode of Pilot Study starts us off in classic territory. The Twilight Zone, the legendary anthology series created by Rod Serling, premiered on October 2nd, 1959 on CBS. Being an anthology series, it avoids the pitfalls of traditional pilot (aka clunky) character setup, allowing us to dive right into the story of Earl Holliman's "Last Man On Earth" portrayal of Mike Ferris. Stay for talk on post WWII America and what exactly the pursuit of progress can mean for individuals caught in the crossfire. The episode, titled "Where Is Everybody," was written by Serling.
