  • Let Your Nose Be the Guide – Controlling Smells and Other Airborne Stuff

    06/06/2018 Duración: 33min

Something that smells bad is your first key that it probably is bad, yet airborne stuff that is harmful to your health doesn’t always smell bad. Controlling the stuff that causes problems, or pollutant source control, is key to controlling the air flow and air quality in your home. Many odors, such as the smell of paint drying, comes from what is known as off-gassing or the slow release of volatile organic chemicals or VOCs. Per the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), many VOCs are consistently higher indoors (up to ten times higher) than outdoors.” Awareness of this issue is important as the impact of VOCs is vital to those who suffer from allergies, COPD, asthma and any kind of upper respiratory issues. Homeowners also need to become aware of the pollutants, allergens, and dust that come into the home from the outside as well. Sealing the envelope of a structure is the process of controlling the interior climate and atmosphere from unwanted outside influences. An alternative to traditional sealants such

  • The Need for Teams, Missions and Goals in Everyday Homebuilding

    08/05/2018 Duración: 34min

Marla and Tony talk about the need for teams, missions and goals in everyday homebuilding and green home certification. For the Millennials, sustainability is the added value that makes the difference in the homes they choose to purchase. This trend encourages builders and remodelers to adopt more green home building practices which substantiates the necessity of good project management. The homeowner and builder then work together in assembling a cohesive team of professionals, that develop a unified mission, working synergistically towards goals that result in the homeowner’s ideal home suited to their specific needs and lifestyle. The green home certification process adds an additional level of monitoring and control, which attracts the younger buyer and is why green homes sell faster, at a higher cost and why they maintain their value; they are trustworthy from initiation to closure, and it all starts with … A PLAN!
