    This episode of InConversation features Tom Hall. Tom is a Dublin-born writer and director, who, in 1995, co-founded High Hat Productions with fellow filmmmaker, John Carney, with whom he co-wrote and co-directed November Afternoon and co-directed Park. He was the writer, director and co-creator of Bachelors Walk, the IFTA award-winning comedy/drama series. In 2010, Tom wrote and directed Sensation, a film inspired by reports of a farmer’s home-run brothel. Tom has recently directed episodes of the TV series Trivia and Red Rock.

With the promise of being let out of the basement for Christmas dangled before them, the lads enthusiastically tackle the latest releases, including The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, Krampus, Sisters, The Danish Girl and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. At the end of the recording, our hosts were told that they would not be released over the festive season - the one bit of basement tinsel was duly burnt and the door was bolted. As a result the podcast will return before the new year to give us a look back at the highs and lows of film in 2015.

    Jonathan Victory chatted to Mill+ Director Aidan Gibbons at the recent Irish VFX + Animation Summit. Aidan Gibbons is a Mill+ Director working out of the London studio. Aidan moved into Direction after working as a senior member of The Mill’s 3D team, where he was a CG lead, and has led artists on a number of high profile advertising campaigns for Lexus, Santander and Brother. Most recently Aidan has directed commercials for Lexus ‘Geneva Motorshow,’ Ssang Yong ‘Tivoli’ and Jaguar ‘ACST’. His other creative highlights as a CG artist include, Guinness ‘Music Machine’, Audi ‘Economy Drive’ and O2 Broadband’s ‘Niggles and Narks’. Aidan is also noted for having created a number of short films, including ‘Diversion’, which went on to win Best VFX at the Global Student Animation Awards.

He is a vertebrate palaeontologist with over 60 peer-reviewed publications, and is the most sought-after animal anatomy consultant in the animation and visual effects industries, having worked on over 60 films, video games, and theme park rides. His film credits range from Lion King, and Tarzan, to How to Train Your Dragon. Ross Whitaker's first feature film, the self-funded Saviours (2008), was selected for theatrical release in Ireland and acclaimed as as one of the "100 Best Irish Films of All Time" (Sunday Times). Ross' award-winning short documentaries include Bye Bye Now (2009), Home Turf (2011) and he has been involved in many successful TV projects, including the the epic television documentary Blind Man Walking and the Prime Time political documentary The Bailout. Most recently, Ross' film Unbreakable: The Mark Pollock Story enjoyed a successful Irish release in 2014 and was released in the UK to critical acclaim. Ross is currently working on a year in the life of a seaside town, Lahinch, on Ireland's wild Atlantic coast.
