In this episode me and my friend Kieran talk about the Steven Spielberg film 'Amistad'. Along the way we talk about communication and otherness in Spielberg films. We also talk 'Schinder's List', we show our complete lack of knowledge of American history, we talk about the Spielberg season at the BFI (British Film Institute) in London, we do a 'shoutout' to Benview on Spielberg (a fellow Spielberg podcast), we look at Spielberg's career just prior/ post the millennium, we compare this film to both The Color Purple and 12 Years a Slave, we get some feedback from one listener and we continue to moan about Brexit. Please note- there were some issues with the record so there are a handful of jerky edits in the episode but generally the episode is fine.

Recorded on the 24th of June 2016, on the day the British 'Brexit' referendum is announced, my friend Kieran and I try to take our minds off this political disaster by talking about our favourite European films. Along the way we talk Guillermo Del Toro, Pedro Almodavar, Richard Linklater's 'Before' series, Shane Meadows (in particular his film. series 'This is England') as well as reflecting on European trips which include getting sick in Vienna due to in appropriate clothing and how not to talk to women on a trip to Greece. Expect an undercurrent of frustration throughout.

Along the way we discuss the career of Bruce Willis (and Jared Leto), we also talk about Highlander, get a Chinese-whispers account of the filming of Red 2, we do some impressions, talk about what TV shows we have been watching (I give my opinion on X-Men: Apocalypse) and more.

In this bonus episode me and my friend Paul discuss the Roland Emmerich film 'Independence Day'. And in my recasting section I recast the View Askew universe with drag queens from Ru Paul's Drag Race (the Ru-skewniverse?).

Oh, and we get interrupted. Sort of.

We also touch on the remake of this film which neither of us have seen but pretty much except is terrible. Oh, expect a bunch o' innuendo and an abundance of impressions/ quotes (and not just Keanu and Swayze).
