The reason Revelation is so scary is not because it tells of cataclysmic judgments unleashed on the earth; the reason Revelation is so scary is because, despite the cataclysmic judgments, no one repents!   What does God have to do to get our attention?   Revelation is filled with judgments on a rebellious humanity, but these judgments—though terrifying--do not provoke repentance. We all know the kind of things that do NOT count (on their own) for how well life is going:   How much money you have is not a good indication in itself for how well your life is going; How much sex you have is not a good indication in itself for how well your life is going; How fast you can run a mile is not a good indication in itself for how well you life is going; Etc.   See:   I know lots of people who have a lot of money who are miserable; I know lots of people who sleep with a lot of other people who are miserable; I know lots of people who are physically fit who are miserable.   _____________________________________________   There’s nothing wrong with money or fitness or even sex (if used within the covenant of marriage),   but the point is that those things in and of themselves are NOT good indicators of how well you life is going.   ______________________________________________   What if you had an accurate scoreboard for your life?  What if you could actually know if your life is going w

We begin our study of the Book of Revelation by looking at the end.

Oh man oh man oh man, The ending to the book of Nehemiah is SO GOODA After all of Nehemiah's remarkable success in rebuilding the city and the people, the book ends not with a bang but with a whimper. Why? This inspiring little book has something very important to teach us about where true change comes from. In a time when people are offering solutions about how to fix what’s wrong with America, this lesson from Nehemiah is more important than ever. Even if it feels like a gut punch when you hear it. 

Nehemiah leaps off the page of his memoir (which makes up most of the biblical book named after him), and I just love the guy. What story are you telling about yourself? What pattern are you believing about your life?

There is a mindset mistake most of us are making these days: it is to focus on what we LACK rather than what we HAVE. I call this top down vs. bottom up thinking--bottom up thinking will change your life!

Either we will learn to control our emotions, or we will be controlled BY our emotions.

Easter 2020!

Friends, I sincerely believe that we are living in a time of apocalypse, and that this is Good News. See, apocalypse simply means "revealing"--this crisis is revealing much about ourselves and our world that we preferred not to see. Now that we are being given these insights, there are powerful possibilities for change and repentance available to each of us, through the grace of God. Will you take advantage of these insights, or continue to pretend otherwise? Will I? I am learning that much of my life has been built on a faulty foundation--now is the time to rebuilding on solid ground. "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rains came, the waters rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, but it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock." [Matthew 7:24-25] --Andrew
