We might also want to fit in and feel like we belong. Or, we might want to increase our social status or position. Whatever the reason, trying to impress others can often backfire. When we try to impress others, we might come across as disingenuous or even arrogant. We might also end up sacrificing our own values and beliefs in an attempt to please others.
