How can look rivet by rivet at the container of our lives to see what is there and serving us and what is there because it always been, or what is there because we promised ourselves when we were 8 that we would never be that way ... your life and legacy deserve inspection, deserve a thorough inventory. In this episode of Trailercast I had the honor and privilege of interviewing Jill Doneen Clifton. Jill is the author of Landscape of Mothers, a book brought into my life by destiny and of course, Amazon. And because I loved it so, I reached out to Jill to see if she would come on and chat with us. I'm so glad she said yes. Welcome to this week's episode of Trailercast! Today I have a practice for you, so you might want to listen to this one in a space where you can pause and close your eyes. When I was a kid, my siblings and I would hunt throughout our house for loose change, and then run whatever we found through those coin sorters. You know the ones... the machines that put each coin in exactly the right spot. (Then of course, we would wrap the coins up and take them to buy candy. Because, kids.) But in this practice, we are the coin sorters, rattling-spinning-circulating information and truths and depositing them exactly where they need to land in our bodies.  If you are new to these visualization practices, think of them as a way to engage in something outside of just our thinking. An action to partner with our thinking, so that we can access it easier and remember it more clearly. Welcome to this week's episode! Today I reflect on the ocean, a place of deep symbolism for me. A place where I have always gone to seek solace. A place that has taught me so much over the years.  Here I talk about depths and currents and waves and getting swept away, as well as deciding when it's time to stop struggling. Understanding that we don't always have to fight against the current. We can get out and start again.  This episode is also about awareness. About the fact that what is happening on the surface isn't always the full story. There is always more happening underneath. Unfiltered processing of my life this last week - coming home from ATX, a sick kiddo that lead to RSV pneumonia and a 5 day stay in the hospital, my own medical trauma getting kicked up, motherhood and advocacy and raising Eden, then going home and longing for the release, regulation and repair and it just wouldn't come ... then finally the leaking, the tears, the letting go, the homecoming both within and without. Thank you always for listening and letting me do my thing, swear words and raw disclosures and all. I am continually reclaiming my right to my self, my right to my voice, my right to my unedited life. This podcast is a sacred piece of my process and our shared process as humans. Getting to witness people seeing themselves clearly, sometimes for the first time. In this episode, I reflect on some questions and themes that have been coming up within my therapy practice lately.
