Sinopsis

With over £40m endowment from the Big Lottery Fund, we work in partnership with other organisations to develop and fund projects that take the London Olympics 2012 spirit forward in the UK.Our goal is to enable people to take an active part in their communities through sport, art and cultural activity, education and volunteering; and by doing so to improve their own lives and those of others.We will also encourage all our partners to collaborate and to share their own networks, tools and experiences as a way of helping the resource we have to go further and to make a difference to more people’s lives.

    On October 25 2017, Spirit of 2012 held a Summit to launch our first legacy report. Our legacy report showcased the findings of the impact of our first free years of funding. Martin was Head of Ceremonies for London 2012. For many people the Opening Ceremony was the moment they first realised how special the London 2012 Games would be. Martin is now the Chief Executive of Hull 2017 City of Culture Spirit Connection: Spirit has invested £2.85m in Hull UK City of Culture including a health and wellbeing study and the volunteering programme In these podcasts, we’ll share our panel’s discussion on sporting and cultural legacy and the creation and staging of events.

Nancy Hey set up the world’s first 'What Works Centre for Wellbeing' that aims to understand what governments, business, communities and individuals can do to increase wellbeing. She is an experienced policy professional and coach who has worked with the UK’s top Civil Servants to introduce wellbeing into public policy. Wellbeing is one of Spirit’s core outcomes, and we take a keen interest in the What Works Centre.
