Sinopsis
Citizenship applications have plummeted because of increasing fees, and for the second year in a row, the number of people applying for citizenship has gone down. Factors include increasing international tensions, and stronger immigration regulations, but the biggest factor is cost. Unless you have a burning desire to become a Canadian citizen, not many people have the amount of money that is neccessary to even apply. The government is saying that the fees for the application are merely administrative fees, but the cost continues to rise. Guidy Mamann, Immigration Lawyer with Mamann, Sandaluk & Kingwell LLP, discusses with Kelly Cutrara the factors that are affecting potential immigrants, and why the numbers continue to go down.
