Introduction: California is a one-party state. Democrats hold a supermajority in the legislature, and a 2-1 advantage in voter registrations. California elections rules allow for sending mail in ballots to all registered voters, and allow for vote harvesting, inviting low interest, low motivation voters to have a say in our democracy far in excess of their willingness to do even marginal research into the candidates and policies. And to be even marginally inconvenienced every two or four years in order to cast their votes The recent recall never had a chance.
