Michael Gravitt has an amazing ability to be aware of his surroundings.  It’s a necessity for him, you can learn a lot from this thoughtful conversation.     Michael Gravitt has been legally blind since birth due to a degenerative eye condition called retinitis pigmentosa (or, RP for short). When he was younger he could read computer screens and regular print by simply placing his face in a book, and could see well enough to take photos, see folks up close, and get around without a dog or cane.  Now, Michael uses special software on his computer called JAWS and also use voice-over on the iPhone, both allowing me to listen instead of looking at the screen.  He has a beautiful guide dog Lola.   Mike is originally from South Boston, Virginia, but have resided in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania since early 1998.
