In these two chapters of Esther, the plot starts to thicken and the drama unfolds. A newly promoted, high-ranking official to the Persian King, is supposed to have everyone bow down to him. Mordecai won't do it. This sets off a feud that dates back centuries between God's people and an ancient enemy.
