Global Impact

"AFRICA - THE UNFULFILLED PROMISE"

Informações:

Sinopsis

This segment of GLOBAL IMPACT addresses the current state of Africa in the context of the non-realization of its economic, political, and social potential. There was a mad scramble for Africa at the end of the nineteenth century at meetings in London, Berlin, and Paris. The continent of Africa was terra incognita to the bidders, except for South Africa and Algeria. Lines of longitude and latitude were drawn to carve out desired territories among the Europeans without regard to traditional ethnic groups, monarchies and chiefdoms. Dr. Kasumu Salawu, distinguished Political Economist and African History Scholar will be our special guest sharing his critical perspectives on this very important topic and will discuss what African leaders need to do now in order for Africa to reinvent itself as a continent of self-sufficient nations capable of competing in global markets and self governance.
