China, however, will be charged with a 125% tariff. Trump insisted that China’s “days of ripping off the USA, and other countries, is no longer sustainable or acceptable.” 6:15pm- Will Democrats give President Trump credit for getting tough on China? In 2005 Senator Chuck Schumer advocated for a 27% reciprocal tariff on Chinese imports—noting that their unfair trade practices prevent American goods from being sold in the Chinese market.
