How can Americans get past what they think they know about one another? We may think we understand the guy in small town North Carolina who voted for Trump, or about the young woman protesting last weekend in Chicago. Social media makes it easy to paint whole groups as racist, heathen or unpatriotic without ever hearing about what really motivates them.
