I read two quotes the other day. One said, "hitting rock bottom has produced greater leaders than having an easy life" and the other said, "there are no strong people who have had an easy past." And I totally agree with them both. Let me ask you this: Can you name one person in the bible who was a great leader who didn't go through anything? Can you a great leader who wasn't in the bible who didn't go through anything? I cannot. 2 Timothy 1:8 says "Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord." And not only does that mean not to ashamed of God. It means not to be ashamed of what He's done for us. Hope and faith are pretty much the same thing, because alot of hope -- if that's possible -- equals a mustard seed of faith. And you know about mustard seeds. They're excessively small, but once they burst open, watch out. It's an explosion of goodness all over. Don't you just love a faithful attitude? I do. Jesus said, "if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. I have a friend who is a backsliding Christian. Yet she continuously uses God's word over her life. She's not living the way a traditional Christian lives, but let me tell you, she believes what the bible says and she has several verses that she quotes all the time. Her life is pretty abundant too. What do you think about that? I know what I think about it and that is what Isaiah 55:11 says, which is: "so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."  God is not a respecter of persons and He will bless who He wants to  bless. So I was looking at a person who posted her podcast numbers on a social media site. And I have to admit, they were very impressive. Her podcast was only published for less than 6 months and the growth was remarkable. While looking at her post I thought about my numbers and how much longer I had my podcast, but how much smaller my numbers were. And for a quick moment I began to ask God why, but it wasn't 2 seconds later -- literally -- that I stopped mid-thought and said, 'I'm happy for her podcast and I'm happy for my podcast too.' You see how quickly I shifted my thoughts? There are so many remarkable people in the bible who went through the fire, but because of their faith, they come out unscathed. They didn't give in or they didn't give up when their back was against the wall. They continued on despite any obstacle around them. Do you know, when challenges come, if we will just continue to hang in there and keep trudging along, something great is bound to happen? It may not be right away, but eventually it will happen. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. That's according to the story in  1 John 1:1-18).

Today I've come to remind you about what 2 Corinthians 5:17 says about you and that is, you are a new creation, because of the God who lives in you. Have you ever heard of the Hall of Faith? It's in Hebrews 11 and it highlights different leaders God brought from the valley to the mountain tops. Do you know that when God says you're going to be blessed with a promise He's made to you, it's going to happen? Because when God said it was going to get done, it's going to get done. Nobody can stop it, nobody can block it, and nobody can influence the outcome. Nobody.  "For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God" (2 Corinthians 1:20).

I know it's cliche' and I know we tend to use the phrase over and over again, yet I'm going to say it and that it, "don't give up." Don't give up on where the Lord is taking you. It's easy to stop when it seems nothing is working or nothing is happening.  How are you feeling today? What kind of head space have been you in lately? I ask, because I'm just wondering if anybody feels like me -- free like me. Free as an eagle. Free as free can be. Leaders have to open our mouths more, because it really helps people to know they're not alone and God will help them get through just like He helped us.  Isaiah 61:7 says, "Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. Abraham didn't know exactly how to get there. He just knew what direction to go and he went by faith. He didn't have all the answers. He was just going on the promise of what God told him, because he knew God would be with him. And guess what happened? No matter the season -- good or bad -- hot or cold -- up or down, when we continue on we will reach that mountain peak. We just can't stop, so don't let anything stop you. Are you close to your breakthrough victory? Isaiah 43:14-28 talks about God's promise of victory with verse 19 saying, "For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland." Did you hear that? You know, sometimes in life just when it seems things are looking up, you turn around and boom, a step backwards. Just when you were starting to see a change, a shift, some forward motion, things slow almost to a standstill.  And before I say another word, I think about Isaiah 40:29-31. Do you know it's not about how and where you started in life, it's about where you end up? Yes. Where do you want to go? You can get there and it doesn't matter what anybody says either. You can get there by the grace and strength that God gives you. So, if you're not feeling as strong as you like today, you will come through and become stronger despite it all. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 is proof. Matthew 23:1-12 tells about  Jesus telling the religion scholars and Pharisees about how to treat people and He tells people there is only one Lord and Savior and that is He Himself. What's your pattern of seeking and finding God's vision over your life? I'm just curious, because sometimes what we think is destiny for us, may not be.  1 John 5:13-21 talks about that and verse 14 says, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us."
