From talking a 10-year-old out of being scared of sharks in the bathtub, to a full grown adult woman getting violently ill at the thought of a road trip with friends to immediately thinking someone has died a horrible death because they are 5 minutes late… anxiety can be a big ol’ pain in the ***. In Episode 28, Deanna’s out sick but Frances is joined by Cynthia, someone who has dealt with lifelong anxiety. Frances provides a quick, easy-to-understand review of what “anxiety” actually means and how a proper diagnosis and treatment may be helpful in managing the disorder. The two chat about the struggles, the misconceptions, the triumphs and not-so-pleasant side effects of when their anxiety got the best of them. While a healthy amount of fear has kept us humans at the top of the food chain, anxiety in 2018 is one of the most mislabeled and misunderstood mental health issues in today’s conversations.
